The young ladies of Evanston in the 1920s knew they would not be completely dressed for a party until they picked up a new fan.

Materials:  cardboard, celluloid, silk, feathers

The larger fan, of slightly curled, pale pink and white feathers mounted on cardboard "sticks" printed with gold ink, would have been carried by a very young woman to her first evening social engagements. The smaller fan, of white ostrich tips on pink cardboard sticks printed with silver ink, is a type of party favor popular at children’s parties. The celluloid ring bracelet and ribbon ensured that it went home with the recipient.
