Evanston's First Passive House: a 21st Century Solution set within an Evanston Historic District

Architect Nate Kipnis, FAIA, and homeowner Margaret Stender return for an encore talk about Evanston’s first certified Passive House. Stender’s home is a fully certified Passive House as well a PHIUS ZERO 2021 net zero certified home, which are some of the most rigorous building certifications for exceptionally energy-efficient and remarkably resilient homes. The design seamlessly integrates sustainability a modern design aesthetic within the challenging context of the Ridge Historic District. Stender moved into the home on Earth Day in April 2024 and will give updates on living in Evanston's first passive house.
